Personally, I think the color coded thread paths is the best thing to include on a serger. They’re pretty easy to implement, but it makes a world of difference when you are trying to thread the machine.

With a serger, you can finish the edges faster and also trim the edges to exactly where you are sewing. This results in a clean edge with exact selvedges and more precise sewing projects.
