Janome Hello Kitty KT-35 Sewing Machine Details
The Janome Hello Kitty sewing machine KT-35 is an adorable little sewing machine targeted at young new sewers. This machine is a fully functioning sewing machine, and is capable of sewing light to mid weight materials.
This manual sewing machine has eight different built in stitches – five variations of a straight stitch and three variations of a zigzag stitch. These stitches are controlled by the stitch selection dial, making it easy for a new sewer to know which stitch they are using. This machine is controlled by foot pedal. You push down on the foot pedal to control the speed of the sewing machine, much like a car. Pressing down harder makes the machine sew faster. There is no max speed controller with this sewing machine, sewing speed is solely controlled by the foot pedal.
This machine has the easy to use drop in top bobbin. It also has automatic bobbin winding capability. It does not have the convenient needle threader feature found in many sewing machines these days. This machine also does not have a sewing light, so you would need to make sure to use it in a well lit area or add your own light onto it. This Janome Hello Kitty sewing machine comes with a finger guard presser foot. The presser foot is clear plastic with little rails in the front to protect little fingers and keep them from entering the needle area unintentionally.
This machine is very lightweight and portable. It weighs roughly 6.26 lbs. It is 13.58″ x 11.45″ x 6.65″. This makes it great for moving around and storing when not in use. The box that this machine comes in even turns into a carrying case with a handle on top. So be sure to not throw the box away.

Hello Kitty Sewing Machine KT-35 Review
The Hello Kitty sewing machine, KT-35 is a quite useable sewing machine. With it’s eight built in stitches and finger guard protector it’s a great little machine for young beginning sewers. There are enough features to give them options, but not so many that they are overwhelmed.
The biggest hurdle to using this sewing machine is that the manual is written in Japanese. This means that truly new sewists would need the experience of more advanced sewers in order to use this machine properly. Otherwise, they will be stuck researching how to use a sewing machine or learning to sew by trial and error.
The KT-35 Hello Kitty sewing machine has quite a few negative reviews. This machine is targeted at new sewers. From looking at the reviews, most complaints seem to be inexperienced sewer issues – improper tension, improper threading, and inability to wind a bobbin. Users who were guided by a more advanced sewer seem to fare quite well with this sewing machine. One important thing to keep in mind is that this machine is made for new sewers and it can struggle with heavier fabrics. This is not a good sewing machine to hem jeans with. 🙂
Overall, the Janome Hello Kitty sewing machines are more expensive than similar, non-branded sewing machines. For the price of this sewing machine, you can buy a much better sewing machine with more features. Unless you are purchasing this machine specifically for the Hello Kitty branding, I would recommend you look at an unbranded model with more features instead.
